The company has announced that from this week if a Barclaycard customer informs them of their intention to travel abroad in advance, they will not then refer any overseas card transactions for fraud checks.
The scheme has been launched with the intention of ensuring that Barclaycards 11m UK credit card holders will not suffer the inconvenience of having their credit card being incorrectly stopped due to the customer being unable to verify the transaction as they are abroad.
Barclaycard customers wishing to use their credit card abroad can now simply call Barclaycard on 0870 010 0578, informing the company of:

“ There is nothing more inconvenient than going abroad on holiday and not being able to use your card because it has been declined,” says Martine Warwick, head of card fraud operations at Barclaycard.
“ At Barclaycard we want to ensure that cardholders enjoy a hassle-free holiday. The service launched today will mean that if a cardholder informs us about their travel plans, we can instruct our systems to process transactions from the cardholder’s travel destination,” he added.

- Emergency card replacement and cash advance anywhere in the world

These schemes should also provide cardholders with peace of mind that some practicalities will be taken care of should some problems arise.
