UK consumers taking advantage of charity credit cards
There are many different types of credit cards available in the UK market these days, and in addition to rewards based credit cards and ones that offer special interest rate deals, consumers in the UK can also enjoy a choice of charity credit cards that enable them to make donations to their favourite cause or charity simply by using the credit card in the usual way.
And it seems that UK consumers are giving more and more to charity via their credit cards, suggesting that charity based credit cards could prove the ideal way to make donations for many consumers.
A new report has been released by Apacs, and figures indicate that the amount being donated to charities via credit cards has been rising since 2004. According to the figures £68.82 per credit card was the average donation in January of 2004, and this appears to have risen to an average of £75.55 per credit card in January 2006. Events such as the Tsunami earthquake has seen consumers start giving more in the way of credit card donations than before, according to Apacs.
The Director of Communications at Apacs said that more and more people were turning to their credit cards in order to make donations to charitable causes and appeals, and over sixty eight million was donated through credit cards in June alone according to Apacs figures. One spokesperson from the association stated: "This is just one of the ways that we use our cards to help charities. Whatever the charity, more and more of us turn to our plastic to show our support."
Many consumers could benefit from a charity linked credit card, which enables the cardholder to donate to charity without doing anything other than to spend on their credit card.
